How to watch

Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer by day and a masked vigilante by night, using his superhuman senses to protect the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City. The Netflix Daredevil series, which premiered in 2015, set a new standard for Marvel storytelling with its moral complexity, brutal fight choreography, and Vincent D'Onofrio's iconic portrayal of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. After Netflix cancelled the series in 2018, Charlie Cox reprised the role in the MCU proper, leading to Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, which directly continues the story.

🕐 Release Order

The franchise spans the original Netflix era and the current MCU Disney+ era. Watch the Netflix series first, then any MCU appearances before Born Again.

Marvel confirmed that the Netflix series is MCU canon, so you can treat it as a continuous story flowing into the Disney+ era. The Defenders crossover is worth watching for context, even though only the Daredevil-specific episodes are essential.

Which Order Should You Choose?

Watch the Netflix series before anything else — Seasons 1 and 3 are exceptional, and Season 2 introduces The Punisher and Elektra with memorable results. Season 1 contains arguably the best fight scene in Marvel history (the hallway fight in Episode 2). After completing the Netflix run, you can follow the MCU breadcrumbs through Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, and Echo before Born Again. Born Again is designed to work for new viewers but hits much harder if you've seen the Netflix originals.
