Based on Veronica Roth's bestselling trilogy, the Divergent series follows Tris Prior — a teenager who doesn't fit into any of her society's rigid factions and discovers she may hold the key to its future. Set in a walled, dystopian Chicago where citizens are sorted by personality into five groups (Dauntless, Erudite, Abnegation, Amity, and Candor), the films combine coming-of-age drama with action-packed rebellion. Shailene Woodley delivers a compelling lead performance across three films (the planned fourth was never completed as a theatrical release), making this a trilogy worth experiencing in full.

Fans of the Hunger Games or Maze Runner will find plenty to love here: strong world-building, a compelling heroine, and a story that takes its politics seriously.
